There are few places in the world that hold romance quite like Paris.

City of Lights, City of Romance

Perhaps it’s because romance here feels embedded into everyday life. In the architecture, in the rhythm of the streets, in the way the light settles across stone facades in the early morning. It is a city that feels cinematic without trying, where beauty is not reserved for landmarks alone, but found in the quieter in-between moments too.

For me, Paris has always been a place best experienced slowly.

While the iconic settings are part of its magic, and rightfully so, there’s something special about allowing a session here to unfold naturally. Beginning at places like Palais Royal or the gardens of Tuileries Garden, where the architecture and symmetry create an unmistakably Parisian backdrop, then wandering into the quieter streets nearby, where the city softens and becomes more personal.

I often encourage couples to begin early, just after sunrise, when the city feels gentler and the streets are quieter. The morning light in Paris has a softness that feels almost editorial, wrapping itself around the architecture and creating space for a slower, more intimate experience.

And of course, because Paris is always a good idea, we must not forget about the iconic spots.

A walk along the Seine, portraits at Pont Alexandre III, a view of the Eiffel Tower from Avenue de Camoëns, the quiet elegance of Petit Palais, the stop by the Louvre, or even slipping into a café or pâtisserie for a pause between locations. Sometimes those unscripted stops—a coffee, a box of macarons, an unplanned stroll through a side street—become the moments couples remember most.

And then there is Paris at night.

A rooftop toast, champagne in hand, the city glowing below, waiting for the Eiffel Tower to begin to sparkle. The energy shifts, becoming quieter and more cinematic, and the story takes on another layer entirely.

A Photographer’s Dream

That’s the beauty of photographing in Paris. It can be grand and iconic, but it can also be deeply personal.

I’ve photographed engagements, elopements, wedding weekends, and editorials here, and what always stays with me is how versatile the city feels. Paris can hold celebration in so many forms. A welcome dinner on the eve of a wedding. A quiet engagement session before a season of planning. An intimate elopement with only the city as witness. Or simply a chance to document this chapter of your life in a place that feels larger than the everyday.

For couples considering where to celebrate, elope, or simply preserve a season of life together, Paris offers something rare. A place that feels both iconic and intimate. Rich in history, layered in texture, and endlessly inspiring.

It’s one of the reasons I love capturing stories in France. There is a timelessness to it, a way of making even ordinary moments feel extraordinary.

And for those drawn to romance, artistry, and experience, there may be no better setting to begin.
